About the Trust

The Trust was formed in 1998 as a Building Preservation Trust (BPT) with the aim of acquiring, saving, restoring and securing the future of the buildings and demesne of Brough Lodge in Fetlar.  The Trust is a member of the UK Association of Preservation Trusts (APT).

Brough Lodge Trust is a registered Scottish Charity (SC 028725) and is run on a voluntary basis.

Olive Borland is a descendant of the Nicolson family who built and lived in Brough Lodge throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Olive Borland was the last heir to the estate, and she transferred ownership of Brough Lodge to the Trust in 2007.
